“The Unique & Ultimate Book”

Isaiah 55:11

Webster defines the word “unique” as, “one and only, single and solo, different from all others, or having no like equal.”  The word “ultimate” means, “primary or the farthest.” Whether you call it, “The Holy Book”, The Good Book”, “The Bible”, “The Word of God”, “The Holy Scriptures”, “The Gospel”, etc…the Bible should be on the top shelf and all by itself for it is the unique and ultimate book!  One of the great reformation cries was, “sola scriptura”  = “the scriptures alone.”   The bible is a divine and supernatural book! (II Tim. 3:16 & 17) The scriptures are God breathed – inspired of God.  It is not simply a human interest or history book or a classical piece of ancient literature it is God’s unique word to humankind!  (I Thess. 2:13; 2 Pet. 1:20 & 21)  The Bible is a supernatural book declaring a supernatural savior!

The Bible is unique and ultimate in its continuity.  Written over 1,600 years by over 40 different authors from every walk of life, from 3 different continents, in 3 different languages, in a plethora of literary styles, & addressing a myriad of hot and controversial topics relevant to humanity and our daily lives and yet if presents a unified consistent message of God’s redemption and love for humanity.  All 66 books of the bible; 39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament tell the Greatest Romance Story ever told – God’s love for His creation.  The bible is unique and ultimate in its circulation with sales reaching into the billions.  It has no equal!  The Bible is unique and ultimate in its translations being translated into 2, 200 different languages of the world according to the United Bible Society.  The Bible is unique and ultimate in its survival and has never diminished in it style, content, or accuracy.  Homer’s Illiad written in 800 B.C. the earliest copy we possess is 400 B.C. a gap of 400 years and we have 643 copies.  Caesar’s Gallic Wars, written between 100 – 44 BC the earliest copy we have is 900 AD or a time span of 1,000 years from the original.  We possess only 10 copies of this literary piece.  There are over 24,000 copies of the scripture. The time gap between the copies and the original are 50 to 100 years in length.  The Bible’s authenticity, veracity, and validity are unprecedented and unparalleled.  (Isa. 40:8; Ps. 119:89; Mt. 5:18)

The Bible is unique and ultimate in it’s benefits and blessings to the believer.  The Bible provides spiritual strength and sustenance (Job 23:12; Mt. 4:4; I Pet, 2:2; Heb. 5:12-14).  The bible provides protection from stumbling and falling into lie and deception. (Ps. 119:11, 105; Jn. 17:17; Heb. 4:12). The bible produces joy (Jer. 15:16).  The bible produces faith (II Thess. 1:3; Romans 10:8, 17).  The Bible produces life and liberty (Jn. 8:32; PS. 107:20; 3 Jn. 4).
